Kaenkrung

  • 📍 Location: 521/11 Arunamarin Road (900 meters from Wat Arun)
  • 🍽️ Cuisine: Isaan and Thai cuisine made from locally sourced ingredients
  • 🕓 Open Hours: 12:00-22:00, closed Tue and Wed
  • ✨ Standout Features: recognized by the Michelin Guide, and the food is simply outstanding

New to the Michelin Guide 2025, Kaenkrung quickly became one of our favorite restaurants in Bangkok. The food is the highlight – well-balanced Thai and Isaan dishes full of flavors, beautifully presented, and made with fresh local ingredients.

We recommend trying Hao Dong, their signature grilled pork neck spicy salad, and Laab Duck Confit – deboned right in front of you and mixed to perfection. We shared four dishes plus desserts, and we’ll definitely be back to try more of their menu next time we’re in Bangkok.

The atmosphere in Kaenkrung is warm and welcoming, and the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. For the quality you get, the prices are very reasonable. Although we showed up without a reservation, we recommend making one to avoid disappointment.

Wallflowers Cafe

Hidden in Bangkok’s buzzing Chinatown, Wallflowers Cafe feels like stepping into a secret garden from another era. The space has vintage charm, old-style décor, and a cozy atmosphere that invites you to linger. Spread across multiple levels, every corner offers a new visual surprise – from antique details to a tiny dollhouse.

This garden-themed café serves beautiful cakes alongside a creative food menu, where everything is plated with edible flowers. At night, the café transforms into a bar with live music, perfect for unwinding after a long day.

If you’re looking for a fantastic café in Bangkok with a nostalgic ambiance, or a unique spot for drinks in the evening, Wallflowers Café is definitely worth visiting.

Rongros

  • 📍 Location: 392/16 Maha Rat Road (Phra Nakhon – 300 meters from Wat Pho, and opposite to Wat Arun)
  • 🍽️ Cuisine: traditional Thai cuisine
  • 🕓 Open Hours: 11:00-15:00 and 17:00-22:00
  • ✨ Standout Features: stunning riverside location with unobstructed views of Wat Arun; Michelin-recognized authentic Thai cuisine

Rongros is a riverside gem by the Chao Phraya River with one of the best views of Wat Arun. This Bangkok restaurant is small but full of charm, and has been recommended by the Michelin Guide for six consecutive years (2021-2026).

Every dish we tried was beautifully presented and full of authentic Thai flavors. The food tastes incredibly rich, aromatic, and perfectly balanced – truly living up to its Michelin recognition.

As it’s a smaller spot with limited seating, we suggest making a reservation even for lunch. A rooftop table sounds tempting, but keep in mind there’s no backup plan if it rains – the restaurant is always fully booked, so you won’t be able to move under the roof. Booking a window seat inside might be a better option (plus there’s AC), or at least bring an umbrella just in case.

Wanjai Cafe House

  • 📍 Location: 1190 Song Wat Rd (Song Wat)
  • 🍽️ Cuisine: Thai desserts
  • 🕓 Open Hours: Mon-Fri 10:00-17:00, Sat-Sun 10:00-20:00

With 45 years of mango sticky rice legacy, Wanjai Cafe House is a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth. This charming old-school café features vintage furniture and nostalgic details throughout. And the vintage video game zone for customers? Epic!

The Mustang Blu

  • 📍 Location: 721 Maitri Chit Rd (Chinatown)
  • 🍽️ Cuisine: international cuisine, dessert café, and cocktail bar
  • 🕓 Open Hours: 11:00-22:00
  • ✨ Standout Features: highly unique vintage-inspired decor; beautifully presented and photogenic food

One of the most unique places to eat in Bangkok, The Mustang Blu, is located in the heart of Chinatown. The vintage-inspired decor is incredibly stylish, with a touch of whimsy, designed down to the smallest detail. The place practically screams Instagram – from decor to food presentation, everything is picture-perfect.

Beyond the restaurant, this 1800s-era former bank building houses a boutique adult-only hotel with just 10 rooms. It’s a perfect base for exploring Thailand’s capital while soaking up its romantic, old-world charm.

Choen offers an intimate and exclusive Chef’s Table experience, open Wednesday to Sunday, with only one seating at 19:00 for up to 12 guests.

The menu is built around open-fire cooking, using different types of wood that change with the seasons, alongside fresh, local ingredients. On our visit, the 10-course set menu theme was “Into the Wild.” From fire to flavor, each dish tells a story, carrying the raw soul of the forest and Thai traditions.

Its Michelin Guide 2026 recognition is absolutely well deserved! Make sure to book it in advance.

One of the best Bangkok restaurants if you’re craving authentic Thai food, Naam 1608 offers an extensive menu with all your favorite Thai dishes. The setting is intimate and authentic, housed in a beautifully restored wooden building right on the Chao Phraya River. This is a perfect spot for a sunset dinner, and live music completes an already incredible atmosphere.

The food is fantastic – fresh, flavorful Thai dishes made with care, according to the ancient recipes. We advise booking a table facing the river in advance to secure the best views.

Piccolo Vicolo

  • 📍 Location: 775 Maha Chai Rd (along Ong Ang Canal, close to Chinatown)
  • 🍽️ Cuisine: coffee shop, dessert café
  • 🕓 Open Hours: 09:00-18:00, closed Tue

  • ✨ Standout Features: beautiful antique house and traditional Thai desserts

A must-visit place to try traditional Thai desserts. We had a set that included mango sticky rice, 8 Thai desserts, an auspicious basket, and iced lemon tea. Each dish is beautifully plated to enhance both the visual and tasting experience.

The setting is special – housed in an over-century-old wooden house that’s been beautifully preserved. The space is atmospheric with many historical photos, vintage furniture, and nostalgic charm.

Horsamut

  • 📍 Location: 8 Tha Kham Alley (Phra Nakhon)
  • 🍽️ Cuisine: coastal Thai cuisine
  • 🕓 Open Hours: 11:00-23:00
  • ✨ Standout Features: great view over Wat Arun temple; one of the favorite Bangkok restaurants among Thai residents

Horsamut was recommended to us by a local as one of the favorite Bangkok restaurants among Thai residents. The atmosphere here is fantastic, thanks to its location right next to the Chao Phraya River and live music in the evenings. You get a breathtaking view of the iconic Wat Arun temple, which lights up beautifully at night.

The menu focuses on coastal Thai cuisine, highlighting seafood dishes, though Thai classics are also available. Reservations are recommended to secure a good table by the river.

Hong Sieng Kong

  • 📍 Location: 734-736 Soi Wanit 2 (Talat Noi)

One of the most photogenic cafés in Bangkok, Hong Sieng Kong is ideally situated on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. While the front entrance seems small, the interior is surprisingly vast and intricate, spanning multiple floors. Every corner is a photo opportunity. The old warehouse zone has been transformed into a breezy, open-air area, while cozy air-conditioned rooms are adorned with antique furniture and vintage pieces.

Besides drinks and desserts, they serve small bites – appetizers, sandwiches, salads, and pasta. It’s a perfect spot to take a break before you continue roaming the Talat Noi streets.

This trendy coffee shop with an industrial concept serves by far the best coconut coffee we tried in Bangkok. Try their signature Coconut Dirty Coffee!

A super cool feature: any iced drinks come in a can, made fresh and canned up right in front of you. The café is on the smaller side, so just grab your coffee to go and explore the neighborhood.
