Ngorongoro Farm House

Ngorongoro Farm House

We stayed at Ngorongoro Farm House only for one night, so there is not much we can tell about it. It is located just 2 km from the Ngorongoro park entrance gate, and it is a working coffee farm. The lodge is rather big and has about 50 rooms, although there were only 5-7 couples during our stay; it didn’t feel crowded at all. The rooms are located in separate houses, some are connected and some do not have nice views. Our “Kanga” house was just perfect. It is the farthest from the main reception/restaurant area, and it has great views to Oldeani Volcano.

The house was spacious and cozy and had a fireplace. What also impressed us was a hot shower with great water pressure; we had started to miss this already – how “normal” things become different in Africa!

What we liked about the place is that even with all the comfort, you still feel like you are in the wild. At night, hyenas were screaming by our door and in the morning, birds were jumping on our roof like a herd of crazy baboons. :) How cool is that?

Food, unfortunately, was very average. Isn’t that strange for a working farm?

In the evening, all the guests gathered around a fire by the restaurant. We had a similar “fire gathering” experience in the two following camps, and we liked it very much!

There is a swimming pool and a souvenir shop, and the lodge arranges walks around the farm, tribe visits, and so on. We liked it; it was a nice and relaxing layover before our next stop.
